Natural Handmade Luxury - Hand Knit Collection

Natural Handmade Luxury - Hand Knit Collection

In our pursuit of a truly regenerative approach to our garment production, we have been exploring the indigenous way of farming for fibre sourcing to create our collections. Soft, natural and chemical-free Kala cotton has just been harvested and will be spun into yarn for our beautiful hand knits

Kala cotton is indigenous to Kachchh in Gujarat, India. The cotton is organic, as the farmers do not use any pesticides and synthetic fertilisers. It is a purely rain-fed crop that has a high tolerance for both disease and pests. It is resilient and resurgent in the face of difficult land conditions.

Khamir, a not for profit organisation started experimenting with cotton and today the Kala Cotton Initiative encourages sustainable cotton textile production in harmony with local ecology.

The project aims to create a value chain at multiple levels by working with marginalised communities and promoting locally grown species. To implement this initiative, Khamir have created a supply chain between the Kala Cotton farmers, ginners, spinners and weavers to convert the raw cotton into hand-woven products.

We are so excited to introduce our new Hand Knit collection, featuring a gorgeous rib texture in undyed and an all-new natural dyed colour from forest harvested walnut shells in our soft and oversized hand knitted jumper and scarf.

Not only are these knits supporting community, biodiversity and circularity, but they’re also full of the character unique to a handcrafted product. We hope you love our hand knits and the story behind them as much as we do!
