HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR NATURALLY DYED GARMENTS
the BEAUTY OF NATURAL DYES
It is our desire at Cloth & Co. to create a space where you can buy sustainable pieces with earth-friendly fibres and beautiful, natural pigments; as such our new 100% Hemp Collection has been created using all natural, plant and mineral based dyes using traditional artisan techniques. Each garment is dyed using locally foraged plant materials and minerals by renowned master dyer Kishor Bhai in central India. Natural dyes are not only beautiful by nature but also non-toxic and non-allergenic making them friendly to your skin and the planet.
Our Hemp collection is an ode to artisans, the empowerment of women and mother nature.
CARE GUIDE
Our naturally dyed pieces require some extra care in order to preserve their beauty and ensure they age gracefully.
WASHING YOUR GARMENTS
We recommend you air your garments between wears and only wash when absolutely essential.
Only use natural, eco-friendly fabric detergents that are PH neutral and free from any chemicals, fragrance and essential oils.
It is best to find a detergent or soap that is not perfumed and contains no lemon scents or oil, this can change the colour of your natural dyed garment.
Cold Machine wash your garments with similar colours. Separate any other naturally dyed garments from your wash as the colours may run and interfere with one another. Once washed, shake and hang out to dry.
DRYING YOUR GARMENTS
It is best to line dry your natural dyed garments in the shade and inside out. Do not expose to direct sunlight as this will fade or change the overall colour. Drying on a hanger in the shade or in a breezeway and ironing when slightly damp will give the best results.
SPOT CLEANING MARKS & STAINS
If your naturally dyed garment is affected by a food or wine splash it is likely that this stain may not be able to be removed however we would recommend trying the following.
- Rinse under cold water immediately and gently use your finger or a clean cloth to pat & loosen stain
- Fill a basin with cold water and 1 - 2 teaspoons of natural - eco-friendly PH Neutral soap and let the garment soak for a few hours
- Once it has soaked in the basin, either hand wash with cold water or do a cold machine wash
Please do not attempt to spot clean with any stain removers or chemical cleaning products as you will likely cause discolouration in the overall garment.
