Getting to know our stockists - Curate Store

Meet Brooke, The Creative Behind Curate Store

At Cloth & Co. we love to connect with like-minded people from all over the world that showcase Cloth & Co. as the luxury, sustainable, and empowering brand it is.
We truly value and continually work with our stockists to achieve a strong, consistent relationship and to deliver you with a quality, timeless product and shopping experience.

As a creative that has experience in graphic design and e-commerce, Brooke Tsekeris created Curate Store based on her passion to create the perfect gifting experience. Operating online and in-store by the beach in Newport, Sydney, Brooke has curated products based on their uniqueness and ability to tell a story. Curate Store showcases timeless products that are meaningful and we wanted to know more about Brook and what inspires her.

What inspired you to start your own business?

I worked in retail throughout my Graphic Design Degree and I have always loved the relationships you build with customers and the ability to help them find the perfect item or gift. After working as a brand designer and in e-commerce marketing, I took some time to travel. Upon returning I had the desire to embrace my own creativity and express this in a new outlet. I am an avid gift giver and enjoy searching for the perfect gift for someone else or even to spoil yourself, so from here I realised the potential to source amazing brands and provide my thoughtful gifting experience to others via my own store.

How did you approach the overall aesthetic of your shop?

I always knew I wanted to bring together amazing brandsto allow someone to create the perfect gift for someone they love, including themselves. This guided me to ensure brands were unique and had a true story or something special about them. I aim to curate a range of products that are thoughtful, mindful, and inspiring.

How has sustainability influenced your decisions on which brands you include in your shop? What brands do you include?

When I shop, I like to shop small, local, and purchase from brands who have a story to tell. I personally like knowing my purchasing choices are sustainable and for this reason, I choose brands that have good intentions and make sustainable choices where possible. Some of our favourite sustainable brands we stock include Cloth & Co, Seed and Sprout, Love Tea, Leah’s Mark Illustrations, Loco Love, and many more. We love how many of our brands are small businesses and many are moving to sustainable ways.

Have you noticed any shift in consumer behaviour towards more sustainable and ethical purchasing?

Before opening the store, I knew that customers were beginning to value the importance of sustainable and ethical brands more and more. It was a pleasant surprise once we opened, to see just how many people asked about brands and their sustainability or ethical backgrounds. During COVID, I think more and more people are beginning to think about their purchasing choices and this, in turn, has seen a shift towards thoughtful purchasing.

What are your go-to cafes and restaurants in the area?

Newport has many cafes and top favourites Rukus, Rusti Fig, and Zubi, they all have amazing coffee. A hidden gem for a late caffeine hit is The Corner Store serving coffee until 5 pm. Also, check our Mrs. Robertson’s Lounge Bar a small bar serving awesome cocktails and nibbles the perfect place for a catch up with friends. You also can’t forget The Newport with its stunning views of the Pittwater.

What are your favourite things to do in Newport?

Enjoying the community spirit, we have so many small businesses who all support each other. You can’t forget the beach and enjoying gorgeous weather by the ocean.

What are the best-hidden secrets that you would share with any visitors coming to Newport?

Don’t forget to take the headland walk up from the beach, some people miss it. Follow past the surf club and at the end of the car park there is the entrance to a short walk up the headland and over to Bilgola Beach. There are some great spots to stop along the way and admire the view!

What is your favourite Cloth & Co. piece?

I love the Classic Vintage Tee in White paired with the Slub Lounge Pant's in Olive.
